What Secuvizz Control is

Secuvizz Control is the phone companion app for the Secuvizz HDMI viewing stick — a small device that plugs into any television and turns it into a live CCTV video wall. The app is the remote control for that device: it finds your IP cameras and NVRs, lets you arrange them in a grid, and sends the result to the TV.

The app requires a Secuvizz stick on the same local network. It is a hardware companion app and does not do anything on its own. If you open it without a stick on your network, the discovery screen will correctly show no devices.

Everything runs on your own network. There is no cloud account, and your camera video never leaves your premises.

Setting up a new stick

  1. Plug the stick into your TV's HDMI port and into power, then switch the TV to that input.
  2. If the stick has no saved Wi-Fi, it starts its own setup hotspot and the TV shows the hotspot name, its password, a QR code, and a 6-digit pairing PIN.
  3. Join that hotspot from your phone — point your camera at the QR code on the TV, or join manually using the details shown.
  4. In Secuvizz Control, enter your home Wi-Fi name and password. The stick saves them, drops its hotspot, and joins your network.
  5. Reconnect your phone to your home Wi-Fi. The app finds the stick again automatically.
  6. Enter the 6-digit PIN still shown on the TV to pair. The first phone to pair becomes the administrator.
  7. Open Cameras, run a scan, and enter the username and password for each camera or NVR.
  8. Open Layout, choose a grid, assign cameras to cells, and tap Send to TV. Turn on Save as default so the stick restores that view by itself after a power cut.

If the stick is already on your network, you only need steps 6 onwards.

Troubleshooting

The app can't find my stick

  • Check the TV — the stick must be powered on and showing the Secuvizz screen.
  • Your phone and the stick must be on the same network and the same subnet. Guest Wi-Fi networks and some mesh systems isolate devices from each other and will block discovery.
  • If your phone is on mobile data, turn Wi-Fi on and rejoin your home network.
  • On iPhone, the app asks for permission to find devices on your local network the first time it runs. If you declined it, switch it back on in Settings → Secuvizz → Local Network.
  • As a fallback you can type the stick's IP address directly. It is shown on the TV's pairing screen.

It asks for a PIN and I don't know it

The 6-digit PIN is displayed on the television the stick is plugged into. It is never emailed or printed on the box. If the TV is not showing it, restart the stick by unplugging its power for ten seconds.

Five wrong attempts will lock your phone out for five minutes. Wait it out and try again.

A scan doesn't find my cameras

  • Cameras must be on the same network as the stick.
  • Discovery uses ONVIF, plus Hikvision and Dahua's own protocols. ONVIF is disabled by default on many cameras — enable it in the camera's own web interface, then scan again.
  • If a camera still won't appear, use Add device and enter its IP address by hand.
  • For an NVR, add the NVR itself rather than each camera. Its channels come through with it.

A camera was found but won't play

  • Almost always the username or password. Re-enter them — many cameras use a separate ONVIF account from the web-interface login.
  • Check the camera is not already at its limit of simultaneous streams. Cheaper cameras allow only one or two.
  • In a large grid, choose the camera's sub-stream rather than its main stream. Nine full-resolution streams is a lot to ask of any network.

The TV is blank or shows the wrong thing

  • Confirm the TV is on the HDMI input the stick is plugged into.
  • Re-send the layout from the Layout screen.
  • If the picture is frozen, unplug the stick's power for ten seconds. With Save as default on, it restores your layout by itself.

There's no sound

Audio is muted by default. Use the speaker button at the top of the Live screen. Note that many CCTV cameras have no microphone at all.

I want to move the stick to a different Wi-Fi network

Open Settings → Change network in the app, pick the new network and enter its password. If the stick can no longer reach any known network, it falls back to its own setup hotspot and the TV shows the joining details again.

I replaced my phone

Install the app on the new phone and pair it with the PIN on the TV. To clear out phones you no longer use, the administrator phone can choose Settings → Sign out all phones. That signs out every phone including the one you are holding, so each phone you still want re-pairs with the PIN.

Licence activation

Scan the licence QR code supplied with your stick, or type the key. Activation needs internet on your phone once; after that the stick works entirely offline. If a licence is rejected, or you need it moved to replacement hardware, contact us with your licence key.

Privacy

Secuvizz Control contains no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking, and your camera video is never sent to us. Full detail is in the Secuvizz Control privacy policy.
