Yes, the Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro is a strong fit for Bendigo businesses that need a scalable, all‑in‑one networking solution with built‑in video storage. It combines enterprise‑grade routing, firewall and UniFi management in a single rack‑mount unit, and HiVizz Security provides local installation and a free on‑site quote.
Operating out of Bendigo while covering Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne and the surrounding Central Victorian region, HiVizz Security delivers owner‑operated 4K CCTV installations with free on‑site quotes.
Why the Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro fits Bendigo businesses
Local SMEs in Bendigo and nearby Castlemaine need networking that can grow with them. The Dream Machine Pro delivers that by:
- Enterprise‑grade, rack‑mount gateway – it bundles routing, firewall, IDS/IPS and the UniFi controller, so a single piece of hardware can manage the whole network.
- Supports 100+ UniFi devices and 1,000+ clients – ideal for a busy shop, a small office, or a warehouse that may add more Wi‑Fi points, cameras or VoIP phones over time.
- All‑in‑one design reduces hardware footprint – no separate controller box or extra firewall appliance, which saves cabling and space in a typical Bendigo office or retail back‑room.
These points translate into less hassle for you and a smoother path to future expansion, especially as the NBN rollout brings higher speeds to regional Victoria.
Key features you’ll use every day
When you first power up the Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro, a few everyday features stand out:
- 10 Gbps multi‑WAN load‑balancing – one 10G SFP+ port and eight Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports let you connect a fast uplink and plenty of wired devices without bottlenecks.
- 3.5 Gbps routing with built‑in IDS/IPS – the device inspects traffic for threats while keeping data moving quickly.
- Integrated UniFi OS console – the full UniFi suite (network, Wi‑Fi, Protect, Access, Talk) runs directly on the device, removing the need for a separate controller.
- 1.3‑inch touchscreen – a small screen on the front provides quick local monitoring and basic configuration without a laptop.
- 3.5‑inch NVR HDD bay – slide in a hard drive for video storage, handy if you pair the UDM‑Pro with HiVizz Security’s CCTV cameras.
These specs match the official Ubiquiti data sheet; you can see the current price on our product page: Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Pro.
What you need for a successful installation
The Dream Machine Pro is ready‑to‑run, but a few accessories help you get the most out of it:
- PoE‑enabled UniFi switch or PoE injectors – Power‑over‑Ethernet supplies power to UniFi access points and IP cameras through the same cable, eliminating separate adapters.
- Official 10G SFP+ module or SFP+‑to‑RJ45 adapter – required for the 10 Gbps uplink port if you want to use fibre or a high‑speed Ethernet link.
- 19‑inch rack or wall‑mount bracket – the unit is rack‑mountable; we can install it in a server rack or on a wall in your office.
- Cat6/7 cabling, optional UPS – quality cabling ensures stable speeds; an uninterruptible power supply keeps the network alive during power cuts, which can be common in regional areas.
- Basic network planning – decide where you need Wi‑Fi coverage, how many cameras you’ll run, and where the device will sit for easy access.
HiVizz Security will handle mounting, cable management and configuration, so you don’t have to worry about the technical details.
Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro vs. other UniFi models
Here’s a quick look at how the main UniFi models compare:
| Model | NVR bay | Throughput | Typical use case |
|---|---|---|---|
| U‑DM‑Pro | Single 3.5‑inch HDD slot | 3.5 Gbps routing, 10 Gbps WAN | Ideal for most Bendigo SMEs needing a built‑in video recorder |
| Cloud Gateway Ultra (UCG-Ultra) | No HDD bay | 1 Gbps routing | Good for small offices that don’t need video storage |
| U‑DM‑Pro Max | Dual HDD bays, higher throughput | Overkill for most SMEs unless you run 20+ cameras or need massive bandwidth |
For a typical Bendigo shop or small office, the U‑DM‑Pro balances performance, storage and price without the extra complexity of the Max model. If you only need Wi‑Fi and basic routing, the Cloud Gateway Ultra could work, but you’d lose the convenient NVR slot for any future CCTV expansion.
